Paravertebral blockade

The paravertebral blockade is carried out in order to relieve or reduce the intensity of pain syndrome in the spine.

Constant acute or aching pain seriously affects the quality of life, interferes with sleep, work and any activity. The pain causes the muscle of the body to contract, increases the amount of white blood cells and the viscosity of the blood. The longer it lasts, the more negative effects it has on the body.

Certain mixtures of medications are injected into the affected area (near the spine, the nerve endings), which allows you to temporarily “block” pain, reduce swelling and inflammation. When injected intramuscularly, the amount of the medication that reaches the pain point is significantly less than when medication is injected locally through a blockade. That is why the effect of the blockade is larger. Due to local administration, the drug has a longer duration of action, as the drug is concentrated and stays longer than in the general blood flow.

During the paravertebral blockade medications practically do not enter the systemic bloodstream, which reduces the risk of side effects.
